Julie Emmett is the senior director, retail partnerships for the Plant Based Foods Association (PBFA). Julie develops opportunities for PBFA member companies and retailers to achieve their sales goals through education, data analysis, research and marketing initiatives. Julie has spent her entire career within the retail food industry in multiple capacities in leadership roles with companies such as Kraft, Albertsons, MARS Advertising and SPINS. In 2018, Julie created and led PBFA’s pilot shopper marketing campaign with Lucky Supermarkets, a fully-integrated event creating awareness and increased sales for Lucky’s and 20 PBFA member companies. This year Julie collaborated with Kroger for their Vegfest, their internal plant-based foods sampling event, helping to grow the event by 5x the previous year. Julie earned her master’s in business administration at St. Mary’s College, is certified in nutrition education and is passionate about understanding what is driving growth within plant-based foods, which remains at the epicenter of grocery retail sales growth.
